Evolon - a highly effective and lightweight material for automotive sound absorption
The company Freudenberg Nonwovens KG already patented in 2000 their micro filament nonwoven Evolon as sound absorber, and since 2007 Evolon is used in the automotive industry for sound absorption. Evolon is a spunbond fabric consisting of bicomponent filaments (PES/PA6), which are split and swirled by high pressure water yets. The microfilaments of Evolon measuring an average titer of 0,15 dtex combined with the process of hydroentaglement the nonwoven achieves with 100g/m2 an air flow resistance of about 1,000 PA*s/m....
In order to achieve specific benchmarks in the automative industry Evolon can additionally be treated with flame retardant, antistatic, hydrophobic and oleophobic effects. Also a treatment with thermoplasic adhesives for lamination with the backing material can be offered...
