... The fiber contains the active ingredient algae, which make an active material exchange between fiber and skin possible and so ensures a long-lasting feeling of wellbeing. SeaCell active plus is the first natural fiber on cellulosic basis with silver technology which can also be bleached. SeaCell active plus therefore becomes additionally interesting for the textile industry as it is now possible to produce very white clothing with antibacterial silver fibers. Pastel tones can thus also be produced. Fibers enriched with algae absorb metals particularly well. Therefore they can be additionally enriched with silver. This precious metal is known for its antibacterial properties. It hinders infections and inhibits the formation of bacteria, and so the development of unpleasant odors. ... The algae effect is additionally supported by permanent antimicrobial effect... The smartfiber AG took over the plant of SeaCell AG, Rudolstadt in July 2007, based on the technology of Thuringian Textile and Plastics Research Institute (TITK), Rudolstadt.
